Risky Frizz is an American animated television series created by Kenneth Demur for Kingson. The series chronicles the adventures of the notorious titular superhero organization, led by an irreverent anthropomorphic energy drink Risky Dingo. The show is formatted as both a satirical sitcom and an action-based drama.

Conceived from several short films by series creator Demur, who had previously been working in the comic book industry, the series would immediately find success and become the highest rated show on the network for the majority of its run. Additionally, Risky Frizz had acquired a large teenaged and adult audience while being aimed at a younger demographic, owing to its referential and ironic comedy that frequently satirizes the superhero genre, celebrity culture, and a variety of other topics.

From its debut on April 2, 2000 to end on August 12, 2018, 174 episodes aired within fourteen seasons of the show, making it the longest running series on Kingson at eighteen years. During this span, the series served as the foundation for a multi-media franchise that included several specials, video games, comic books, merchandise, and two feature films. In 2020 - two years after the show had ended, it was announced that a third feature film was currently in production. It is slated for a 2022 release.

Premise[edit | edit source]

Risky Frizz follows the irresponsible antics of the eponymous crime fighting team, often nicknamed the Frizz Gang. Set in the fictitious resort city of Colorado City, Florida, which is considered a hotspot for superhero and villain activity, the Frizz Gang's claim to fame as its de facto superhero group was easily set in motion by their destructive and immensely controversial nature. Ambivalent to the public, who's reception seems widely mixed, the Frizz gang are never an eye away from infamy. This is usually stirred up by the actions of their attention craving team leader and mascot Risky Dingo, a sentient anthropomorphic energy drink. Accompanied by his teammates who consists of, his best friend and sidekick Sharkbite, his hotheaded fiancee Glass Lass, and newest member on board Fate Kid, the gang are constantly at odds with the numerous villains they fight, as well as other superheroes, the public, and each other. The show's bleak depiction of superhero ethics regularly conveys superheroes as being just as flawed and self-serving as the rest of society. It is only as the series progresses do the Frizz Gang eventually better themselves through constant trial and error. Contrary to other superhero shows, Risky Frizz puts more emphases on the character interactions above the action, making it standout as more of a sitcom with superhero themes.
